Bodegas Breca Brega Garnacha 2015
An honest wine that expression the pure character of the original clones worldwide of the Garnacha grape. Calatayud is Spain’s highest altitude zone for the cultivation of Garnacha, and produces wines that are incredibly intense yet balanced with bright acidity due to the high altitudes. The diversity of soil types in Calatayud, ranging from limestone to iron-rich slate impart a phenomenal minerality to Brega. Primary source records date back to the 7th Century that show the cultivation of Garnacha in the medieval Kingdom of Aragon, which propagated this grape across its territorial holdings in the Mediterranean, including the South of France and Italy. In these regions the grapes evolved to produce a different expression, and are known by the names Grenache and Cannonau.
